sightseeing of Cape Town city center. You can also join the other subsequent four to five (4-5) days sightseeing which include the safari and Table Mountain.
STAESA's teaching program in South Africa provides a great opportunity to work closely with schools in Johannesburg, Durban, Richards Bay, Boksburg and Cape Town. The program allows volunteers to get direct contact with children, to share their knowledge and make an impact in the lives of these disadvantaged children.
The schools are in dire need of volunteers and other logistics such books, sports kits and computer laboratory. Volunteers will teach basic and conversational English and other subjects he/she is willing to teach.
The great insight you have of the children’s culture makes this program very interesting and fun. Special trained teachers are also really welcome to teach at STAESA physically and mentally disabled children school base in Cape Town.
STAESA’s teaching program includes kindergarten, primary school and high school. We have something for everyone. STAESA provides volunteers to assists in the schools where there are no adequate teachers. In the schools where there are teachers the volunteers share in some of the work load of the teachers. The population of a class is between 30 to 35 kids.

As a volunteer, are ready to get dirty with these kids. Get ready for an amazing busy program.
You will be working full time directly with children in the School. Most of the children are from a very poor families and communities ( Informal settlements). There is a great need in the schools..
The locations of our programs are well picked where you will be placed and work directly with a very smart children in primary school (6-12 Years) and the staff of the school.
You can also choose to work in the pre-school (1-5 Years)
The total population of the Children in a particular class is 35 to 40 The program provides an opportunity to immerse yourself into the very unique culture of South Africa.
The locations of our programs are well picked where you will be placed and work directly with children. Your safety and security are our top priority. You are really in a safe hands. We are with you from the day you arrive till the last day you get into the flight back home.

Working hours and reponsibilities!
Generally volunteers work from 08:00.-12:00 a.m. and 13:00-16:00 p.m. However, your exact working hours are adjusted according to the activities at your work place. You´re permitted to take a day off once in a while. Week-ends are free time for all our volunteers. The orphanage is open during the weekends also. you can choose to go and help if you want.
Responsibilities:
Your schedules in the orphanage include the following below and many more that will be discussed with you upon arrival.
1 The program includes teaching maths subjects, science subjects, spots, music, cantata, agriculture, computer program. Provide extra support and guidance in a self-contained special needs classrooms kindergarten, primary one to six, provide special one on one support and guidance to an autistic students with extra special needs. You could combine the school work with sports program. That is assist in the school in the morning and run a sport course in the afternoon
Other activities
Construction of classrooms block, construction of toilet, construction library and renovation work on the existing classrooms block (fixing windows, fixing doors, floor concreting, painting, art works, electrical works and plumbing works)Helping in the kitchen to prepare breakfast and lunch, helping in the school farm, HIV/AIDS club program, Environmental club and fund raising activities( for school feeding activities, free school uniform and free school books)

There is real poverty in South Africa and you will soon realize that you are far richer and more fortunate than most local people you meet. You will probably attract your fair share of souvenir beggars, but try and take the time to meet ordinary people going about their day to day business too. The experience will be worth it. Don't be afraid to step out of your house, just take some precautions.

Kind of clothes you should pack for your trip to South Africa
Jeans and Trousers: blue jeans, cotton trousers, khaki trousers, Light Shirts and Blouses: T-Shirts, short sleeve shirts and long sleeved shirts. Shorts also for your free days. Pack both summer and winter cloths. South Africa weather is unpredictable. You have the four seasons in a day. Socks and underwear: Shoes: Good leather shoes, sandals, and a lightweight pair of Hiking boots if you will doing some hiking.
Kind of luggage you should take
It all begins with the right suitcases or suitcase. It also depends where you coming from. If you are coming from North America you get to bring 2 suitcases and 50 pounds each, from Europe it is almost half that. It means one has to be practical and take in mind what your plans are once you arrive in Africa, where you will be going and what you will be doing while here.
Keep all essentials like the pill, malaria pills, essential medicine, debit and credit cards, camera and your toothbrush in your hand luggage. Also put one set of clothing if the unthinkable happens that your luggage is temporarily lost. Money Belt: One that will allow you to carry your passport also. Do not wear your money on the outside of your clothing.
